Stop. Breathe. Take a moment

Stop. Breathe. Take a moment

Are you “present” to life? Do you stop to smell the flowers, or are you always rushing to get past?

Do you breathe in the steam of your morning coffee? Do you let the taste linger long on your lips? Do you swallow it slowly, savouring its warmth, its bitter cream taste?

Do you kiss your loved ones, one by one, on the cheek or mouth? A cheery Bye! in the morning as they make their way out into the world, your heart beating with their heart leaving.

When you leave the house for work, do you look up at the sky and thank Mother Earth for another glorious day of sun or frost or wind or rain? Does her splendour catch your eye—white-blue skies, black and grey birds, pink and red-gold flowers and leaves falling down from trees that you crunch upon as you walk past.

Can you feel your feet in your shoes as you make your way into your day?

At work, you do notice the people around you? Your colleagues, your fellow human beings. Can you see their glowing energy fields and inner lights? Their chakras. Their divinity. Their shadow and darkness. The gorgeous dance of light and dark within each human being.

Are you hypnotised by their beauty? Does it stop you in your tracks?

Lunch time, laughter and giggles. The thrill of the exchange of ideas and opinions. Love and interchange and creativity feeding your cells, your soul, washed down with prana, manna, good food, human connection, and all things alive.

See that piece of beetroot on your fork? Do you know the entire spectrum of the rainbow is within it?

Afternoon. Heading home, neck craned to the heavens not to miss the dusk. Faded pinks and purples atop the tallest buildings. Turning inwards. People going indoors. Lights in windows fading on. Breath slowing down.

Do you look out for every sunrise and sunset? The birth and death of a every new day?

At home, the flurry of dinner time, children or dogs or thoughts underfoot. The chaos or the loneliness, seeing beyond. Feeling beyond. Into the deep blue expanse that is your soul waiting for you amongst all manner of emotions.

Can you feel the peace beneath your life circumstance?

Night time. Dark sky, no moon. You watch your child or lover’s face while they sleep. Dewy foreheads, new or old eyelashes. Innocence. And the “in and out” of life. Your love. Your precious dear. The world in your heart.

In bed at night:

Do you just lie and breathe, and feel the warmth and energy of your own body and chakras?

Do you ponder your own life and death, and fall asleep with the gentle knowing that you’ve lived your best today? Done your best today? That you could die today?

That you were magnificent today?

Do you?

with love,

Is this missing from your spiritual practice?

In a world filled with polarity, hatred, violence, division, and chaos, we can be the bearers and bringers of the light by practicing loving compassion towards ourselves and others. Practicing loving compassion isn’t a difficult thing to do. It simply means trying to see the light in others—or the shadow: the hurt, pain, and suffering.

Having spiritual discernment in the New Age

It’s important not to confuse metaphysical skill with spirituality. Not all people that display strong psychic, healing, or magical abilities have your best interests at heart.
