It’s important not to confuse metaphysical skill with spirituality. Not all people that display strong psychic, healing, or magical abilities have your best interests at heart. In this New Age, you need to have spiritual discernment.
Wizardry does not equate to wisdom. Magic does not equate to self-realisation.
Sure, magic is impressive. My eyes almost popped out of my skull when I watched a guru materialise a ring. The ring literally dropped out of the sky and fell into my open palm. It was silver with a peridot stone, and fit my finger perfectly. This was our first meeting, and I have very small fingers. So, he was legit.
(This guy could also materialise ash that smelled like roses, gold coins, and healing stones.)
But I distrusted his powers. I pulled away and hurried out the door when he offered a collaboration. (He’d heard about my psychic ability.)
The next day, I realised it actually wasn’t him that I distrusted: it was my own feelings about this type of power. It stirred in me a longing that didn’t feel right; it felt seductive, and lucrative. I didn’t like it.
I discerned that—for me, at least—this wasn’t spirituality, rather showmanship. So, I walked away.
Getting taken off track
I understand why many of us get taken off track, or taken advantage of in the New Age.
It’s hard not to be impressed with magic. Nor is it easy to go this road ourselves, when it’s so much easier and less scary to depend on others, or New Age paraphernalia.
Tarot cards, mandala beads, white sage, crystals, talismans, runes, goddess figures, healing wands, chakra stuff, etc. can become vices—objects of magic not of soul, if you’re unaware.
If you’re not careful they’ll point you away from yourself, instead of towards yourself.
Finding yourself
Finding yourself and walking towards yourself is what you signed up for when you came here. You chose to choose free will, and to follow your north star which is located in the centre of your heart.
You chose to walk the path of “thine own self be true.” … This means you have to navigate the light as well as the dark of the New Age.
But if you keep your feet firmly planted on the ground, your mind still, your heart open, and your solar plexus strong, you’ll clearly see the charlatans from the saints. You won’t get distracted or dependent. You’ll keep following your north star.
You will have spiritual discernment.
Remember this
Feet firmly planted on the ground.
Mind still.
Heart open.
Solar plexus strong.
with love,
Belinda
