What does it mean to you to have faith? Does it mean you believe ‘everything will work out good in the end’? Or does it mean you have faith in ‘what is?’
Sometime ago someone asked me what faith meant for me. I paused, thought, and then replied, “Faith is how I feel when I’m connected to the present moment. Because when I’m aligned with myself, I trust.”
But after responding to the question, I thought – I don’t feel I communicated this very well. I wonder what my spiritual teacher, Eckhart Tolle, says about faith…
Eckhart Tolle teaches us that confidence is the absence of fear. The spiritual word for confidence is ‘faith.’ Faith is also trust, so when we trust we have faith.
We can access faith by connecting to the deeper dimension within. (The quickest way to faith is to suspend thinking and feel yourself as the presence. To be in the here and now; present, as Eckhart calls it.)
This means that when we aren’t ‘fearing,’ we’re in faith. We have total and utter faith and trust in the ‘is-ness’ of life. So we flow with life and let it happen to us rather than try to control or manipulate it.
I love this definition of faith. It makes me feel joyous and free. Free to be myself in the moment and trust in all that happens.
with love,
Belinda
