Rituals don’t need to be elaborate or time consuming. Actually, the simpler the ritual the more powerful its effect.
The purpose of a ritual is to bring your awareness to the present moment. And perhaps, also infuse it with an intent. You don’t need to chant anything in particular, nor do you need to be in a deep state of meditation.
Pouring a cup of coffee is a ritual. So is biting into a banana, washing your face, applying make-up and brushing your teeth. We associate rituals with lighting incense, cleansing with sage, or purifying with the white light. But in truth, what determines a ritual is not the ‘spiritual tools’ we use – it’s your focus on the present moment.
Although I do cleanse my house and office space every day using white light – this is very powerful – and occasionally using sage, I endeavour to make every moment of my life a ritual. Mostly, I fall short of the mark, but I know that when my awareness is fully focused in the present moment, each step, each moment of my day feels like a sacred blessing; a ritual of epic proportions.
with love,
