My sister and I have a favourite game. When life gets tough and we’re finding it hard to stay present, do our chakra meditations and keep our vibrations raised, we ask ourselves:
“What would Eckhart Tolle do now?”
This simple question instantly aligns us with how we desire to feel, and helps us get clear about how we are resisting the present moment.
If you’ve been reading my blogs for a while, you’ll know I’m a big Tolle fan.
I talk about him and his amazing book, The Power of Now, all the time to all those that will listen!
That’s because this book catapulted me into a wondrous new life, and through it I discovered the White Light and my life’s purpose.
I’m also honest about the fact that I’m an Eckhart Tolle wannabe: I wanna be peaced out, blissful and “master-like” just like he is.
I have no shame in stating that I’m going for enlightenment…
So when I’m having an “ego moment,” I take a deep breath and say to myself, “What would Eckhart Tolle do right now?”
And it mostly always works wonderfully.
How “Channeling” Mr Tolle Peaced Me Out Last Week
* Last Friday before my Level 3 weekend workshop.
I was feeling stressed because I hadn’t fully prepared for my Level 3 workshop.
It wasn’t only because I’d had a big week and had struggled to find the time. It was also because I knew my SoMM Level 3 students (School of the Modern Mystic) were at different places in their journey, and to accommodate all their needs in one weekend workshop would be challenging.
While I was lying in the bath, I was running through it all in my mind.
Should I teach this? Should we do that exercise?
How many people have already met their soul essences? Would they all need a White Light transmission?
Going round and round in circles in my mind wasn’t getting me anywhere, so I took a deep breath and asked myself, “What would Eckhart do now?”
I closed my eyes and imagined myself stepping into his shoes.
I instantly felt the “weight” of my upcoming workshop leave me and it was replaced with buoyancy and lightness, and I knew then that the present moment would provide everything I needed to make this workshop magical.
The right words would find me at the right time. The right pace of learning would be set by the “internal clock of life,” I just needed to follow it.
And the right questions would be asked so that all of the participants could receive everything they needed to easily and effortlessly continue the journey.
Eckhart wouldn’t worry about an unplanned workshop. He’d let life flow it through him!
* Last tuesday evening while putting my 5 year old to bed.
I was tired, grumpy and not in the mood for playing “Barbie” before bedtime story time.
Not only do I have an aversion to my daughter’s fascination with Barbie – Barbie is not my role model of choice for young girls – I didn’t feel like pretending to strut around in high heels, go shopping for handbags and brush my long blonde hair.
Sarah, my daughter, knows that she can choose one game before bed, and not wanting to be a party pooper and ruin it for her, I (grumpily) played along.
But as the game dragged on and Barbie’s shopping spree became more elaborate and complicated – children love making games complicated – I could hear myself getting snappy with her.
So I tried the “What would Eckhart Tolle do?” question, and it worked like a charm.
It made me laugh visualising him with long blonde hair and high heels role playing with my 5 year old in her room. Picturing Eckhart playing Barbie was so hilarious that it instantly snapped me out of my mood!
I love the “What would Eckhart Tolle do now?” game. It instantly aligns me with joy and lightness.

Belinda
