Early last year, I had a few dark days. I was struggling to find clarity and direction, and I felt lost in an abyss.
Something in me needed to die. Something in me needed to be re-born. Most of us don’t like letting go and letting something die, and I’m no different.
I know death is necessary. I know it’s part of life; part of life’s cycles – part of life’s ebbs and flows, but I was resisting it. And this was making it even more painful.
Usually I process these type of things privately. I’m not one for sharing my personal struggles. Particularly with many people. But I felt guided to share this particular struggle with my Level 2 School of the Modern Mystic students. And I’m so glad I did.
After sharing my pain and grief, I instantly felt better. And, as the hundreds of emails flooded in from my students giving me love and support, I felt carried…
So much so that already on that same day I was rising up again and finding my feet.
A message from one my students particularly touched me.
It is one of the most beautiful messages I’ve ever read, and if you are having a dark day or a tough time, let me pass on this beautiful message to you in the hope that it will bring you solace and comfort.
“Te tiro atu to kanohi ki tairawhiti ana tera whiti te ra kite ataata ka hinga ki muri kia koe.”
(This is Te Reo – Maori language, and in the english language the translation is,) “Turn your face to the sun and the shadows will fall behind you.”
Sometimes it can be a simple as reminding ourselves to do this: Move towards the light, and the dark will fall away.
Sending you blessings and a ton of love.
with love,
Belinda
