You may find it odd that someone who helps others raise their vibration and bring white light into their lives would be obsessed with shadows and darkness. But if you’ve read my book (From Dark to Light), I think you’ll understand why I am.
I was born attuned to the “dark.” Ever since I can remember, I’ve seen the shadow in the world. I’ve seen people’s illnesses and problems, ghosts, negative energy, and the lower, darker realms.
For a long time I thought there was something wrong with me … Until I realised that I was simply a “shadow hunter”; a shadow working lightworker (dark worker) who goes into the shadows for the light.
That’s probably why I’m an avid consumer of supernatural and paranormal thrillers. In my spare time, you’ll find me curled up on the couch with my little black and white fluff ball, Charlie, reading or watching something about ghosts, the afterlife, or the dark side.
I wouldn’t say I’m a fan of the horror genre, though. I don’t like violence and blood and gore. I’m also not an adrenaline junkie—I don’t watch supernatural stuff for the thrill of being scared.
But I do love realistic portrayals of the shadow. Films, series, or novels that shine light on the dark, as well as tackle themes and existential questions about the role of shadow and light and its interplay.
Below—in no particular order—is a list of some of the “dark” movies, series, and books I love.
These are fiction; meaning, they’re made up. And some include fantastical creatures, like vampires, werewolves, and so on.
But for me, elements of the story or the characters or plot are somehow realistic. And they somehow, also, go into the shadows for the light.
