Book Review: The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life Vol. 1

Guest post by Kat Tepelyan

Put on a seat belt, bib and helmet because if you’re like me, you’ll be reading this book drooling and nodding your head so violently you might hit a wall. And have someone photograph you. Your eyes may show up the sizes of plates.

The Flower of LifeIt all started for me with a dream in which I met a man with a low-hanging ponytail of white hair. “Who are you?” I asked.

“Melchizedek.” he said smiling, “Doh!”

I awoke with a start and began googling, finding the word “Melchitzedek”, a term originating from the book of Genesis and eventually finding a person currently living in Arizona, named Drunvalo Melchizedek. The photo on his site was of the man from my dream.

I gasped, put on my seatbelt, bib and helmet and purchased the digital version of The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life Vol. 1.

The Book’s 4 Story Lines

A transcription of Drunvalo’s course by the same name, this book has a very conversational feel about it. This can get confusing occasionally because he weaves in and out of various “plot lines” throughout; eventually, though, this make sense as you read on because there are 4 concurrent stories being told, and the only way to do this is to jump around.

The 4 “plots” being told are:

  1. The history and origins of humans on Earth
  2. The study of sacred geometry, the meaning of the Flower of Life, and how it relates to our bodies, our reality and everything in it
  3. Drunvalo’s autobiography, travels and studies with various teachers/masters
  4. His relationship with one celestial teacher named Thoth, or Hermes, as we are told was one of his previous incarnations.

To tell you I didn’t have intense meditative experiences between the pages or that I read this book in one go would be a bold LIE.

This book took me about 3 months to get through – slow for me – because I would find myself reading half a chapter, putting the book down and falling into a meditative state spontaneously, the information swirling inside my mind and body like an antibiotic cocktail, undoing years of misinformation. At least that’s what it felt like.

I would then be with the information for days at a time, watching it change my perception from the inside out, incapable of touching the book until my mind was grounded enough to receive more.

Now that’s a high-vibration book!

We Contain All Truths Within Us

I believe all of us have an inherent memory of who and what we are stored in our DNA, our energy bodies or whatever you’d like to call it.

It is within, and it is impossible to strip out because it is literally our make up. We can forget, be taught the wrong things, but it is there, just waiting for the right book, person or situation to pick at it.

Then our inner truth tumbles out spontaneously, ringing in our heads and bodies.

That was my experience with this book.

Not only are the stories engaging and wild – the kind of wild all people with a spiritual inclination dream of – but it literally reprograms you. Just hearing this information shifts your perceptions, and for me that was permanent.

I will leave you well alone in deciding whether the contents are truth or mythology, but here are some pointers to help you determine whether you’re hearing your inner truth or whether your ego is having a field day.

Pay attention to your body as you read it

When I read books of this nature, my position is always to “watch” and to “feel” my body since our intuition can often be cloudy still, and we each resonate with what we resonate with, some teachers and teaching being “wrong” for us today and becoming “right” for us later down the line. This has happened to me many times.

Most of us mostly use half of our brain consciously.

I will assume that if you’ve lived a relatively normal life, you were probably not taught to consider your intuition, your body and your emotions in processing the validity of things. Rather, you were likely taught to be “reasonable”, “logical” and “sound”, the qualities of only one half of our brain.

The other half of the brain is usually left well alone, but this is the part I would ask you to connect with, and your body, the innocent vessel for our human experience, is still connected strongly to the right brain, which is why I say to listen to your body. This is the easiest route of connecting, if you allow yourself to relax and ease into the experience.

To do that you simply have to slow down and PAY ATTENTION.

Two importnat things to note

  1. If the writing makes you very uncomfortable and
  2. If the writing makes you feel “light”

We are often very uncomfortable when our perspectives are challenged in general. But there is a difference between the kind of uncomfortable you get when you hang out with a crazy bigot and when you hear uncomfortable truths about yourself and/or your situation. The latter is full of “YES! (And this annoys me)” while the former may be full of anger and potential ambivalence.

Those two feelings will point the direction of your own expansion. What makes you uneasy? What resonates as truth? What just feels like a load of B.S?

Sit with it and see why. Give it some space. The ego is notorious for misinforming us, and we need loads of space to come to proper conclusions.

As Belinda works to release The School of the Modern Mystic, a program I am doing with her right now, she will provide more practices that will help you get to know yourself and your unique soul blueprint. As a result, you will have a stronger sense of TRUTH and FALSEHOOD simply because this work untangles the brambles of confusion imprinted within us from generations of fear and survival on this planet.

I mention this because this work has been monumental in hearing my inner truth and beginning to live a life of deep connection and TRUST in my inner knowing, the kind of knowing this books begins to tease out of you.

Once the confusion clears, you will know that

    HI Belinda,
thankyou so much for this great post. the wisdom within Kats writing and the reference to this book has stirred a great excitement within me.
Over a year ago when I was in a profoundly expanded state after immersing myself in a 7 day body-mind-spirit training I was given a download from spirit through the creator of this phenomenal body-centre practice. She said “your business is called ‘Intuitive Motherhood’ and your symbol is the flower of life.
As I type, this beautiful heart-centred intuitive business is preparing for birth. I now know I need to read this book so I can more fully embody the flower-of-life symbology.
    With love and gratitude,
    Maria XOXO

Wow awsome, thank you for sharing Kat~<3..
I have read a book about a year ago " We are Spiritual beings having a human experience" where the name Drunvalo Melchizedek was mentioned and it was so amazing and at the same time somewhat unbelievable for me at that time. It was explained that he came to help us, humans….on earth to get to the next level etc.
I will definitely read the Ancient Secrets of the Flower of Life.
    love, namaste

Drunvalo’s book was so much enjoy and inspiration when reading. Then at some point, when I was researching more of the history of the symbol, I found that early occurence of symbol in Abydos, Egypt has been questioned and whole topic was left on air. Surprisingly this summer I traveled around the near east and found so many occurences of the symbol that I couldn’t almost believe my eyes. So I took pictures, made some more research on the internet and collected pictures of early usages of the Flower of Life on same pinterest account board: http://www.pinterest.com/markomanninen/flower-of-life-history/

Hope it helps someone and increases the interest for the symbol. I’m sure there is much much much to be found from the motif.
