How To Shut the World Out Without Causing Harm

How To Shut the World Out Without Causing Harm

Life is a series of ebbs and flows. Of times when we’re bursting with energy, productivity, and creativity (when we want to be shouting from the rooftops). And times when we need to be internal, to shut the world out and protect our energy.

You can’t live the high without the low. From an energetic viewpoint this is also true.

If you’re always external—giving, doing, creating—your cup will eventually run dry … You need the internal times to keep your creative chalice full.

But most modern mystics struggle to feel ok about this.

They know it’s always most dark before the dawn, yet they resist and struggle against the “low time.” They reject the inner call for stillness and the need to purge and cleanse the outdated patterns and ways-of-being.

But it’s in the dark that the light can burst forth.

If you’re in a low time, don’t feel bad about wanting to shut the world out. And don’t worry about how to do this without any negative impacts upon your family and work.

If you surrender and accept your need to shut the world out, the universe will support you. It will lovingly hold you in its tender embrace and all will be taken care of …

Then, when Divine Time orchestrates it, you’ll come back into the world. Clearer, strong, and more purpose-driven than ever before.

What!? Are we really at the end of 2017? My goodness, where did this year go?  I honestly don't know. Suddenly it was January 1st, 2017, and just as suddenly it's almost January 1st, 2018. This year felt like a shinkansen (bullet train). In a blink of an eye, it's passed. If you're anything like me, you also found this year challenging. It was difficult, stretching, and confronting. It was shadowy. For me it was a year of deep revelations and even deeper lessons. I learned a ton. I cried a ton. And truth be told, I struggled a ton, too.

You're waking each morning in a state of angst. Your heart is racing, the bed sheets are tossed and rumpled, and you feel sweaty and slack. Something is wrong; very wrong. Before you swing your legs out of bed and begin your day, you stay lying down and take a moment to analyse your life.  "What is going on with me?" you ask yourself, "I've been feeling this way for weeks!?" Your start to scan your life, thinking of everything that could be making you feel this way.

For some reason I'm rummaging around in Mum's old white bookshelf. I'm unsure why I got the sudden urge to pull books out, quickly scan their covers, and shove them back into the shelf. But then it catches my eye— a small, old, tattered blue-coloured book with a lily flower on the front. It's my Grandmother Jean's book; the book she wrote while she was dying of cancer in 1978, when she was only fifty-five years of age with two of her seven children still in their teens and living at home.
