Life is a series of ebbs and flows. Of times when we are bursting with energy, productivity and creativity – times where we want to be ‘out there’ and sharing, and times when we need to be internal, to shut the world out and protect our energy.
You can’t live the high without the low, they say, and from an energetic viewpoint this is also true. If you are always external: giving, doing, creating, your cup will eventually run dry… You need the internal times to keep your creative chalice full.
But most modern mystics struggle to feel ok about this. They know it’s always most dark before the dawn, yet they resist and struggle and reject the ‘low time;’ the time that calls for silence, stillness and the purging and cleansing and emptying of outdated mind patterns and old energy. The time that enables them to let go of everything that needs to perish so that new life can be planted and grow and blossom.
Many modern mystics feel bad about wanting to shut the world out. They also feel worried because they don’t know how to do this without causing harm to their families, jobs and lives. Life is busy; time is short. How can we shut the world out and still get on with the day-to-dayness of our lives?
The answer to this question is simple. So simple that when we remind ourselves of it, we can’t believe we ever forgot it.
We can shut the world out and still get on with our lives by not feeling bad about it! By accepting the fact, wholly and fully, that each and every person experiences times of low energy and needs to use this time to regenerate.
If you reject what is, negativity grows, and a quick phase of ‘low time,’ can quickly turn into months and months of it. But, if you accept it, you will dive into the underworld and back out again, cleansed, purged, made anew and ready for action.
